Almost two year ago and friend of mine sent me a link to play the lottery. Not the kind of lottery that gives you cash, but the one that gives you a green card to live in USA. I won. I chose San Francisco. Because I have a wonderful friend, who is helping me to start a new life here, because is by the sea, because the sun shines very often and because it felt good. I’m here now and I would like to share this experience with my friends and all those who wonder what it feels like to start over.

Remind myself why I’m here
Sometimes it can be a little hard to be far away from the
people I love. All I need to do is discover a new neighbourhood. This city is
so damn beautiful that it never fails to re-conquer me.
Today I went for a walk to the Presidio. It used to be an army post and there’s a national cemetery, but the best bits are the vistas. Forest, beaches and Golden Gate spectacular views with tons of sunshine.

Green card and sunshine
United States of America Permanent Resident. It feels so strange to read. I’m really here and I can stay. One year ago, Easter time, I could have never imagined I’d be here.
I’m excited, but I do still wonder if this is true. Then I look at
the card and I convince myself that it must be.
Sunshine at 23 degrees and my new card have made this day
truly special.

The trumpet kid
Today I got totally lost into this kid playing the trumpet and tap-dancing simultaneously. I took picture after picture and couldn’t move for some time.
He played beautifully and had so much charisma. His eyes were full of dreams.
I’m convinced he will be famous. He should be.
Thank you Gabriel Angelo. You made my day.
Unsurprisingly he’s already been on TV:

Curls, lights and flowers
Another wonderful day in the city. My friend Stefano made my hair go beautifully curly (not an easy task!).
At 8 we headed down to the bay to see the Bay bridge lighting up. The New York artist Leo Villareal threw the switch on 25,000 LED lights attached to the cables of the western span of the Bay Bridge to launch a two-year public display dubbed the Bay Lights project.
Last, but not least on my way home when I thought the day couldn't get any better, my neighbour gave me a flower. Sweet San Francisco.

Golden gate, mimosa and rock 'n' roll
Fun weekend in San Fran.
Rock 'n' roll on Friday night and I finally managed to go over the Golden Gate. I love bridges and this one is something special.

On Sunday I went for a Mimosa which over
here is not a plant, but a drink served during brunch. Half champagne, half
orange juice. All served with good company and sunshine. Can’t complain.
